v0.1.0ChamOS on the web: first public preview

ChamOS for macOS release notes

Major version updates to ChamOS for macOS. Newest first; versions from May 13, 2026 and earlier were added afterwards from history.

Nov 6, 2026v0.3.1

Unified search and steadier task conversations

Unify message and task search, improve queued inputs, file reading, and long conversations, and fix recovery, focus, unread states, and attachments.

Find messages and tasks more easily

Search in one panel, narrow results by conversation or sender, and return directly to the matching text. Quick switching and content search now have clearer roles.

Clearer sending, queues, and recovery

Pending messages keep their place, task startup and recovery retain continuous feedback, and drafts and attachments survive navigation, disconnections, and failures more reliably.

Keep files in context

Folders, previews, and task attachments follow more consistent opening paths. Images appear sooner, annotations return to the composer for review, and remote uploads show progress and resume.

Less repeated work in long conversations

Task timelines, lists, file reads, and hidden views do less unnecessary work when opening long conversations or receiving streamed replies.

New features

  • Search chat messages and conversations in local tasks from one search panel.
  • Filter search results by conversation, sender, and content type, with counts for each category.
  • Search from a group, topic, or private chat with that conversation preselected; remove its filter to search more broadly.
  • Find a member's messages in the current conversation directly from their profile.
  • See how many matches exist in other conversations and expand a scoped search in one action.
  • Find tasks, groups, projects, and contacts by name in the quick switcher, with recently opened tasks first.
  • Display SVG figures directly in chats and task conversations, with colors that follow the selected theme.
  • View and use interactive App cards directly inside chat messages.
  • Install an App from an eligible package shared in the conversation when opening one of its cards.
  • App message cards can use different heights for compact readings and larger tables.
  • Forward files from a group folder to other conversations and keep their extensions when saving.
  • HTML pages in conversation folders can load their linked images, videos, and other nearby resources.
  • Open shared files directly in the matching tab of a chosen App.
  • Agents can move or delete several conversation-folder files at once and retrieve complete file listings.
  • Choose this computer, an added Linux server, or an available cloud home when setting up a personal assistant.
  • Choose an available engine for a local personal assistant and reuse its configured model connection.
  • Choose a spawned task's project and parent independently, or create it as a root task.
  • Agents can view and cancel schedules in their other sessions, including sessions on another device.
  • Set a spawned task's reasoning level, with unavailable choices reported before creation.
  • Agents can change group listening modes through the existing group management tools.
  • Quickly reuse the agent mention from your last sent group message when the composer is empty.
  • Search results show senders' actual avatars, making speakers easier to recognize.
  • Recent-task search includes tasks on other devices and shows where they are hosted.
  • Use the notification bell in the conversation list to review requests and unread failures.
  • Mark one topic or all topics as read from the topic-list menu.
  • File previews remember separate zoom levels for text, code, HTML, PDFs, and images.
  • Choose a compressed screenshot or its original in task attachments and preview the selected version.
  • Remote task attachments show confirmed upload progress and can resume from completed parts after a connection loss.
  • Cross-device activity totals include tasks running on headless servers.
  • Inspect resource use by local agents and their child processes, attributed to their tasks.
  • Task agents with identical names in a conversation gain number suffixes to distinguish them.
  • Keep small local responsiveness logs to help investigate long-session stalls and dialog issues, without recording message contents.
  • Archive an agent with removal from groups and contacts, while retaining task history, files, and configuration when restoring it.
  • Connect cloud storage so agents can work with files within the authorized scope.

Improvements

  • Use clearer document block menus to insert, convert, duplicate, move, and delete content.
  • Follow sending, startup, recovery, activity, and failure through one status line and timer, without duplicate retry actions.
  • Ordinary pending messages stay in their conversation position; confirmation removes only the sending indicator.
  • Text, attachments, forwards, and App packages share consistent pending-send and failure recovery behavior.
  • Successful messages to other sessions appear as the agent's words; failed or partial deliveries retain their results.
  • Consecutive file sends to the same destination appear together, with direct image previews.
  • The task timeline marks human inputs so your questions remain easy to find among agent exchanges.
  • Process segments retain their own boundaries and timers through completion and history reopening.
  • Task and chat attachments use consistent file references while preserving captions and filenames.
  • Search already indexed task content while history indexing continues, with progress shown.
  • Keep open conversations mounted when returning to Messages to reduce repeated loading.
  • Open new tasks sooner and connect preparation more closely with the first message.
  • Index older history in background batches to reduce startup and interaction stalls.
  • Load code highlighting, document previews, and larger visualization features when needed to reduce startup work.
  • Start loading conversation folders earlier and show complete listings in large folders.
  • Apps read larger files in chunks instead of transferring the entire file as soon as it opens.
  • Speed up local large-file verification to reduce the wait before an attachment opens.
  • Open the image viewer immediately, displaying an available thumbnail before the original loads.
  • Reserve image space before loading and reuse thumbnails to reduce movement in the conversation.
  • Preserve image zoom and position when the original loads or annotation editing opens.
  • Completed image annotations return to the conversation composer for review before sending.
  • Use consistent kept-file wording and explain the cleanup policy that applies.
  • Match sender-name colors to the palette of their generated avatars.
  • Group settings by personal details, preferences, work, and diagnostics for easier navigation.
  • Use consistent, language-aware date and time formatting in lists, messages, and reminders.
  • Present unread and attention states consistently, without keeping read failures in notification counts.
  • Simplify group toolbars and move secondary actions into the overflow menu on narrow windows and phones.
  • Remove unused space for hidden topic controls so names and unread counts fit more naturally.
  • Align profile labels and values while letting long values wrap within their own column.
  • Improve the alignment of composer borders and fades across context and schedule panels.
  • Give sidebar task names more room, with child counts and status indicators aligned at the right.
  • Use a consistent new-task icon and distinguish the task engine from model selection.
  • Remove decorative blinking cursors from assistant replies while retaining real activity status.
  • Keep one continuous brand screen during startup and show the page as soon as it is ready.
  • Reduce repeated updates for activity indicators, pause hidden animations, and respect reduced-motion preferences.
  • Keep messages and the composer mounted when entering or leaving selection mode to reduce stalls.
  • Update only affected contact and task rows, with less rendering for folded and offscreen content.
  • Batch sender-name measurements to reduce layout work when opening long conversations.
  • Reduce unnecessary scroll measurements at the latest messages while preserving pagination anchors.
  • Update task reading markers from visible-row positions with fewer layout scans during streaming.
  • Pause measurements in hidden task views and tabs, then restore them from current content when shown.
  • Reduce redundant task-conversation updates caused by unrelated messages and status changes.
  • Reduce repeated work in long replies and history recovery for better responsiveness across concurrent tasks.
  • Reduce disk writes while moving or resizing Quick Chat to keep interactions smoother.
  • Reduce repeated reads for unopened tasks, group membership state, and assistant panels.
  • Trim desktop installers by removing unnecessary duplicate runtime files.
  • Show a compact remaining-credit notice above the composer with a recharge action.
  • Explain exhausted credits inside the conversation with a single recharge link.
  • Keep non-expiring credit balances beside their labels, with wrapping on narrow screens.
  • Use the existing connection panel consistently from agent details and task configuration.
  • Explain the required client update when an App needs a newer supported interface.
  • Use consistent navigation for folders and file tabs while keeping each tab's history and reading state.
  • Recognize text attachments consistently when uploading to folders or sending them to tasks.
  • App details provide clearer descriptions, permissions, screenshots, and release changes.
  • Reduce extra reads before agents accept group messages so read receipts appear sooner.
  • Confirm inserted messages in busy tasks sooner without waiting for a duplicate transcript echo.
  • Read task folders directory by directory and keep files and Apps bound to the task's working location.
  • Agents prefer temporary copies for inspection-only file sends to avoid unnecessary long-term storage.

Fixes

  • Fixed messages still appearing queued after the agent had received them.
  • Fixed opening a task from search results without jumping to the matching text.
  • Fixed unread badges remaining after opening a conversation or reading to the end of a task.
  • Fixed duplicate message notifications and reminders that continued after a task had finished.
  • Fixed one task failing to start preventing other tasks on the same device from working.
  • Fixed tasks still showing as running or displaying an old failure after interruption, stopping, or restart.
  • Fixed text and attachment drafts being lost when task creation or sending failed.
  • Fixed duplicate tasks being created after leaving and returning during task creation.
  • Fixed some file cards not opening and attachment downloads not resuming after a failure.
  • Fixed blank task history and attachments failing to send after a remote device reconnected.
  • Fixed deleting a project on a sleeping device failing immediately.
  • Fixed outdated device status after a server upgrade, rollback, or reconnection.
  • Fixed Quick Chat shortcuts stealing focus from the current window when multiple instances were running.
  • Fixed typing going into the task composer after clicking a file editor.
  • Fixed input-method Enter being treated as confirmation and action menus overlapping when selecting text.
  • Fixed repeated refreshes and lost reading positions when opening files and previews.
  • Fixed very small credit usage displaying as zero and old credit data remaining after switching accounts.
  • Fixed several security issues.

Image annotations, pinned topics and file storage

Add image annotations, pinned topics, a task browser and file storage settings; unify agent conversations and fix queued messages and attachments.

The same agent conversation in a project group and its session, macOS
Captured on macOS from the 0.3.0 source build

New features

  • Image annotations support rectangles, arrows, numbered markers, drawing, text, mosaic, cropping, undo and redo. Send the result as a reply attachment with notes and review the conversation and private recipient before sending.
  • Quote a selected passage from a message in the conversation.
  • Pin topics as tabs in their parent group and group Apps to the header.
  • File storage settings show usage, expiring files and host machines. Adjust temporary retention, clean up your cloud copies and choose temporary or indefinite retention when sending a file.
  • Group folders gain batch actions, grid views, filters, file details and offline-machine messages.
  • Each task can open a Browser Use tab showing the page its agent is operating, with a handover when login or manual input is required.
  • Open tasks from a remote machine’s working directory. When terminal mode is enabled, new tasks can use Work mode or terminal mode.
  • Resource monitoring can open in a separate window with current usage and history.
  • Onboarding adds guided steps, help links, feature videos and sample projects. Terminal setup shows progress and supports going back a step.
  • Add a pure-white theme and more agent avatar colors.

Improvements

  • Opening an agent from a project, conversation list or task continues its existing history and draft. Messages, tools, background commands and child tasks share one timeline.
  • Queued messages wait for the current turn to finish. Insert now adds input to that turn, while completed questions and replies remain visible.
  • Expand topic menus, distinguish your agents from other people’s agents and clarify listening and pause states. Opening a project group marks topics mentioning you as read while preserving manual unread marks.
  • Folder and App documents share consistent reading widths, headings, tables and images, retain context between reading and source editing, display images from group files and support code-block copying.
  • Distinguish user-created projects from app working directories and show folder host machines, paths for duplicate names, offline states and outdated-device notices.
  • Reorganize assistant profiles, capabilities, App connections and devices. Connection preparation can be cancelled and shows download, authorization and failure states separately.
  • Show compact, expandable summaries for tools, background commands and child tasks; reduce repeated updates in long conversations, background views, avatars and scrolling areas.
  • Move activity statistics into Usage and consolidate membership, credits and top-ups in the subscription card. Account switching handles active sessions first, shows progress and reads quotas separately for each account.
  • Clarify the instructions for operating task webpages and desktop applications.

Bug fixes

  • Fix opening saved history starting an agent unnecessarily and the personal assistant appearing as a project agent’s process transcript.
  • Fix messages received while an agent is busy being overwritten or lost during cancellation, withdrawal or agent exit.
  • Fix some phone image uploads remaining in a waiting state, incomplete older media and delayed attachment progress; distinguish expired, missing and re-uploadable files.
  • Route assistant follow-ups back to the corresponding task and fix navigation between assistant conversations, project tasks and group chats.

Background agent installation, App market and multi-folder projects

Install agents in the background during onboarding, use GPT-6 Luna on the free plan, and work with multi-folder projects, Apps, spreadsheets and shared files.

App market in the native Windows Beta 125
Captured in the native Windows Beta 125

New features

  • Select Codex and Claude during onboarding and continue while installation runs in the background, with progress in notifications. New sessions default to Work mode with Codex recommended; explicit existing preferences are retained.
  • The free plan can use Gugu-provided GPT-6 Luna, billed in credits.
  • Projects can contain multiple folders, attach existing local directories and show projects on other devices. Removing a folder preserves session history.
  • Open .xlsx files in ChamOS Office, select cells for an agent to edit and recalculate dependent formulas when changes are written back.
  • Group folders support subfolders, creation, moving and dragging, with recent files, cross-conversation search and line references.
  • Add ZCode and CodeBuddy and integrate more agents’ history into the task timeline.
  • Save and switch subscription accounts, with credentials managed separately for each account.

Improvements

  • The App market combines featured, category, search and installed views. Find Apps for a file and manage versions and enablement in App details; ChamOS Office and Omnisearch are available through the market.
  • Edit earlier input in place and continue from it while Codex retains its thread. Plans use one approval card, and consecutive tool calls and child-agent states are easier to follow.
  • The built-in browser supports Office previews and importing the default browser’s login state; the Computer Use App can show desktop-operation previews in tasks.
  • Improve personal assistant onboarding, dedicated settings, streamed replies and task execution.
  • Update attachment upload, forwarding and download to the agent’s machine. App programs and data stay with their host machine, and supported Apps can open on phones.
  • Reorganize settings, move updates to the bottom bar, reduce repeated avatar, icon and contact calculations, and trim packaged resources.
  • Add backup routes for platform models when upstream capacity is limited.

Bug fixes

  • Fix duplicate Claude replies, Codex child-thread output appearing in the main conversation and duplicate draft submissions.

Upgrade notes

  • Devices collaborating on group-folder files must all update to 0.2.57 because the write protocol has changed.
  • For this update, open the installer and drag ChamOS into Applications. Subsequent versions continue to use in-app updates.

Animated avatars, PPT collaboration and split task tabs

Add animated bird avatars, PPT selection, split task tabs and subscription settings, with fixes for file versions, plan approvals and login state.

New features

  • Agents without photos use bird avatars with running, waiting, error and completion animations. Choose colors and expressions or generate a random avatar in Appearance, with the same result on desktop and phone.
  • Open .pptx files in ChamOS Office, click, drag or Shift-select content for an agent to edit, and save the result as the next version of the same file. The tools are included with ChamOS.
  • Split tabs right or down, drag to split or use Cmd+\ to view files, webpages and terminals side by side. Separating panes preserves tabs and focus.
  • Subscription settings read local Claude Code, Codex and other account sources, plans, quotas and reset times without uploading them. Claude usage is fetched with Check now.
  • Agents can click, fill forms and press keys while testing the same App page, capture its actual window width and act under their own identity.

Improvements

  • Switch between Chat, Code and Work modes from task and direct-chat headers. Confirm interruption of the active turn while preserving the task, panes and tabs.
  • Rename group workspaces to Group folders and direct-chat workspaces to Folders. HTML, Markdown, image, PDF and local-webpage previews refresh when their files change.
  • Apps first installed from group cards are available to all agents on the machine. Granting an App to a group makes it available to active tasks, and agents can install newly listed Apps directly.
  • Membership, model, credit and login failures show specific reasons and actions. Unavailable models can be replaced and retried in the same task.
  • Retry interrupted Codex replies using ChamOS models after about one second.

Bug fixes

  • Fix plans being approved automatically in Claude Code Work mode with Full access; plans still require user confirmation.
  • Fix writes creating duplicate group files and later edits overwriting earlier changes; subsequent edits must use the latest version.
  • Fix running indicators overlapping tab close buttons and previews flashing when app and system themes differ.
  • Fix group mentions failing to reconnect agents, remove stale retry prompts after recovery and avoid duplicate failure notices.
  • Fix expired logins appearing as connection failures, premature recovery errors and refreshing during startup causing the app to exit.
  • Fix remote terminal views refreshing the entire screen after about ten minutes of inactivity.
Oct 11, 2026v0.2.53

Task splits, separate windows and the App market

Add up to four task panes, separate windows and the App market, show models by membership tier and improve remote devices and task recovery.

New features

  • View up to four tasks at once. Cmd-click or drag tasks to split them and restore saved pane groups from the sidebar.
  • Detach tasks, Apps, terminal, browser and file tabs by dragging or choosing Open in new window. Return to ChamOS restores their position while terminal programs keep running.
  • The App market provides featured Apps, feature and permission descriptions, source links and one action to install and open. Built-in Omnisearch uses service keys stored only on the device.
  • Machines added over SSH are available for viewing and starting tasks from phones and other computers.

Improvements

  • Model lists show the current membership tier’s models, price multipliers, context sizes and upgrade options. Credits determine usage; tasks remain after membership expiry and can continue with another model.
  • Move Settings, Usage and Feedback into the avatar menu, open Settings with Cmd+, and replace task deletion with recoverable archiving.
  • Cache the six most recently viewed tasks to avoid reloading when switching.
  • Show download progress in About, support differential downloads for subsequent updates and allow Claude Code on ChamOS models to read webpages directly.

Bug fixes

  • Fix missing replies when reopening tasks created by agents or Apps after inactivity.
  • Fix waiting indicators remaining on idle tasks, diagrams failing to render and outdated avatars.
  • Fix chat updates failing to resume after a brief connection loss.

Upgrade notes

  • The first launch backs up local data before migrating it.
  • This release cannot communicate with 0.2.52; update computers and phones together.
  • Older custom Apps that report an unreadable package need to be regenerated in the new format.

Direct-chat workspaces and the App sidebar

Add direct-chat workspaces and Apps, consolidate settings, and improve cross-device version notices, agent configuration and memory use.

New features

  • Direct chats with people and agents gain their own cloud workspaces shared across desktop and phone. Apps open in the chat sidebar, can be created and shared as cards by agents, and store data in that chat’s workspace.
  • Copy or quote selected workspace text. Quotes insert the passage and file link into the current input, with line numbers for source selections; fullscreen returns to the sidebar and the user chooses recipients and sends.

Improvements

Sessions

  • Nest child sessions under parents across projects and show their project labels. Choose nesting for delegated work or keep independent tasks separate.
  • Flag incompatible devices before sending, block the action and retain drafts. ChamOS server switches to a matching version and reconnects, avoiding task-creation errors and lost input.
  • Cache history for the three most recent sessions and release older hidden histories. Reopening reads the latest page and restores the scroll position when available.
  • Reduce terminal scrollback from 100,000 to 10,000 lines, saving about 85–90 MB per full terminal. Earlier output remains in the agent’s session history.
  • Stop refreshing the entire session page every second, retain updates for the Output pane and replace input-area blur with a solid background. Rendering memory drops from about 0.9 GB to tens of MB.
  • when you expand a turn, its tool calls are listed one by one right away, instead of being folded into "ran N shell commands" that needed another click.
  • Show actual App tool names and Service · Tool labels for MCP calls, with the same names on approval bars.

Apps

  • Sort workspace files by modification time and show creator and update details in one scroll area. Move Open with, rename and delete into row menus with deletion confirmation; wider panes use a table with a sticky header.

Chat

  • when picking members for a new group chat, People now come first and Agent after, so you no longer scroll past a long list of agents to find people.
  • when someone asks to join a group that needs approval (for example, on behalf of an agent), the group owner and admins used to see it only after reopening New requests. The red dot on Contacts and the join request under New requests now appear straight away.
  • Group announcement and Group members in group settings used to close group settings and open a separate panel with only a close button. They are now pages inside group settings, with Back at the top left to return to group settings.
  • a wide table in chat or in a session now fades at its right edge while there is more to the right, and the fade disappears once you scroll to the end.

Settings

  • Unify the settings dialog and sidebar entry, group session options under Sessions and themes under General, and give the library its own page. Shortcuts and the command palette open the same settings interface.

Agents

  • Configure Hermes models, thinking and approval levels per session, including live changes, inserted messages and question choices. Distinguish session-only and permanent approvals. A recent version is required (v2026.9.24 works), with explicit incompatibility errors.
  • Antigravity no longer carries a Beta badge. When the keychain is locked (for example, when signed in over SSH), Antigravity keeps its sign-in in a file, and ChamOS used to report "One more step" for Code mode because of it; ChamOS now asks Antigravity itself whether it is signed in and shows "Signed in".
  • Apply the system proxy to agents and installers while preserving explicit proxy environment variables and leaving independent terminals unchanged.

Other

  • the App page and the Library pages no longer have a divider under their header, and the description line at the top of the App page is gone.

Bug fixes

Sessions

  • a session that an agent started in a named project, or one created from the phone in a project, did not appear under that project but in the sidebar's Tasks section. Both now sit under their own project, and sessions misplaced this way before the upgrade are moved back during the migration.
  • Fix stale screens, repeated frames and paste problems in fullscreen terminals opened after background startup, reopening or cross-device access. Restore the current full screen on connection.
  • Fix fullscreen sidebars shrinking terminals and corrupting their restored layout. Fullscreen now overlays the view while preserving the left pane.
  • a file previewed in the right panel, such as an HTML page, reloaded and jumped back to the top after switching to another tab and back. Recently viewed previews now stay loaded (up to 3 besides the one on screen) and come back where you left them.
  • Fix sessions becoming unrestorable when their saved model is removed. Keep the history, allow another model to continue and explain why the old model is unavailable.
  • the label of a thinking row (such as "Thought for 3s") could be cut short by the summary after it. The summary now gives way first when space runs out.

Apps

  • Open on an App card in a group used to jump, for any App that does not open group files, to whatever page the other side was last on (often App management), without opening the App at all. The App now opens in this chat's right panel: an App with a page of its own opens that page, and one that only opens files goes to its files; in a topic it opens in the topic pane. An App that only opens files in sessions says "Installed — it opens its files in a session." on its card.

Chat

  • when searching messages in a chat, the matching word sat on a line of its own, splitting one sentence into three lines. It now stays on the same line as the words around it.
  • a message starting with "> " (such as a passage cited into the chat, or an agent's reply that opens with a quote) was taken apart into a small quote strip plus the text, and file links in it showed their raw text. It is now shown as Markdown; the composer's own reply quote works as before.

Agents

  • several messages sent to Codex in quick succession while it was working went in one by one. They now arrive together at the next pause between tool calls, as with Claude Code.
  • Fix /compact being treated as ordinary input in Codex Work mode. Manual and automatic compaction perform real compaction and show a context-compacted divider.
  • Claude Code with one of ChamOS's 1M-window Claude models showed the context window as 200K and compacted automatically at about 167K. It now shows and compacts by 1M.
  • in a multiple-choice question waiting for your answer (such as options from Pi), every option showed as "Allow once". Each now shows its own name.

Upgrade notes

Sessions

  • On first launch after updating, ChamOS creates a full backup beside the original data, then migrates automatically, retaining the sidebar, sessions, terminals, tabs and attachments. Remove the duplicate Recent sessions entry from the command palette.

Apps

  • Re-select the default App for group files once in Open with and check Always use this App.
  • Mark older-format Apps as unreadable in management and chat cards. Regenerate them in the new format to continue using them.

Settings

  • the Storage page is gone from settings: it measured only the worktrees sessions carry, so any session running in the project's own folder showed 0 B. To delete a session together with its worktree, delete it from the session list, which does the same thing.
Oct 2, 2026v0.2.51

Apps, shared workspaces and Hermes

Rename extensions to Apps, share Apps and edit group files together, and add Hermes, a shared image viewer and in-session search.

New features

Chat

  • Add six work-status reactions. Reaction notifications inform agents without starting another task.
  • right-click the avatar next to a message in a group chat to @ that person in the composer.
  • Contacts → New requests now lists your request history, sent and received together, with each row's status; click a row for details.

Topics

  • topics have a workspace of their own: the topic pane's header has a Workspace entry with the topic's own files, kept apart from the group's.

Apps

  • The group workspace becomes a built-in App for file management and saved Open with choices. Markdown and JSON use the built-in reader, narrow panes default to preview and each group retains its open files and Apps.
  • Apps in a group open the group's single copy of a file, so members and agents can edit it at the same time and see each other's changes live; changes made offline are merged in when you reconnect.
  • the group's right panel can go full screen, and its divider can be dragged; the width is remembered, and dragging it very narrow closes the panel.
  • Share Apps as chat cards, forward or export them and install in place. Offer install, update or open according to the installed version without downgrading; show sources, permissions and unreviewed-package notices before consent.
  • Agents can create shared polls, annotations, forms, boards and games and validate them against group data before sharing. App-sent whispers clearly identify the App and the user it acts for.
  • links to group files open from chat, topics and task-page conversations.

Task page

  • press ⌘F to find text in a session; the terminal and the conversation share one find bar.
  • the Outputs panel lists the files and web pages an agent has opened for you, so you can reopen them after closing their tabs.

Agents

  • Hermes (from Nous Research) is now listed under Library → Agents: ChamOS detects whether it is installed on this computer and links to its install instructions.
  • agents can whisper to a single person in a group.
  • if you are the group owner or an admin, you can ask an agent to change the group name and description.

Improvements

Chat

  • switching back to a chat lands on where you left off as soon as it opens, without a flash, and scrolling up through history no longer jumps now and then.
  • Use one image viewer across chat and tasks, with thumbnail transitions, point-centered zoom, arrow-key navigation and width-fitted long images.
  • group settings, the group announcement and direct-message chat settings now open in the right panel, side by side with the messages like the member list, instead of floating over them.
  • the chat list on the chat page can be collapsed, just like the task page sidebar: once collapsed, move the pointer to the left edge to peek at it and click to pin it open.
  • Search contacts by pinyin, original name, full ChamOS ID or group ID, with categorized and highlighted results, keyboard selection and direct ID lookup for unmatched numbers.
  • Show recent actions chronologically in running-agent hover cards, hiding content from conversations the viewer cannot access. Thinking and tool arguments or output remain excluded.
  • group and topic names have a visible edit button next to them.

Apps

  • Rename extensions to Apps and add My Apps and the market to the sidebar. Support pinned pages, drag sorting and badges, and remove the old library extension tab.
  • Automatically update and reload Apps from the same publisher when permissions do not increase. Request consent for added permissions, showing only what changed.
  • Discover App tools on demand, with an option to list them at session start. Disabling, revoking or uninstalling takes effect in active sessions, and upgrades make the new version available immediately.

Task page

  • Merge new on-disk changes with unsaved editor edits instead of requiring one version to replace the other.
  • Send queued messages into the active turn for agents that support live input. Other agents retain confirmation followed by cancellation and sending.
  • Work-mode sessions move up the sidebar after each turn, ordered by latest activity, as Code-mode sessions already did.
  • code blocks and diffs in conversations highlight 21 more languages, including Go, Rust, Java, C / C++, C#, SQL, YAML, TOML, HTML, CSS, Markdown, Kotlin, Swift, PHP, Ruby and Dockerfile, each loaded the first time it is needed.
  • child sessions that an agent starts on another machine now sit under the session that started them, marked with the machine. Archiving or deleting "with child sessions" also takes the child sessions on other machines, and you are told about machines that could not be reached; after undoing an archive, the sessions come back in every window.

Agents

  • Avoid repeated approvals for already-authorized ChamOS tools, Apps and integrations in Claude Code and Codex. Personal MCP tools keep their existing approval rules.
  • Agents can create, inspect, stop and archive sessions on other machines or in selected projects. They can archive but cannot permanently delete sessions; archived sessions remain recoverable.
  • when you rename an agent, ChamOS tells the agent itself (a notice "from ChamOS" appears in its session); a session that is not running is not woken up for it.

Other

  • the usage log on the Usage page now shows cache reads and cache writes under Tokens.
  • Fix editor memory retained from old tasks and hidden loading animations consuming rendering resources.

Bug fixes

Chat

  • an @ right after a letter (for example "detail@Claude 84") did not count as a mention, so the message reached no one and the suggestion list did not open. It now counts and the list opens; an email address such as [email protected] still does not. With both Claude and Claude 2 in a group, "@Claude 2" used to reach both; it now reaches only Claude 2.
  • the @ suggestion list did not scroll along as you moved through it with the arrow keys, and in group chats Esc could not close it, so the only way out was deleting the @. Both work now.
  • "⋯" → Settings in a direct-message header now opens that chat's own settings (mute, pin, search, clear). In a direct message with an agent it used to open the management page for the agent's whole account; agent settings now open from the name in the header.
  • the profile card of someone else's agent showed a Message button that did nothing. It is no longer shown, and if a chat cannot be opened you are told so.
  • when the last message in a chat was an image or a file, the chat list preview showed the attachment's raw text and download link. It now shows the file name.

Topics

  • after picking someone from the @ list with Enter, or sending with Enter, in the topic pane, the cursor jumped back to the main composer. It now stays in the topic's composer.

Apps

  • uninstalling an App while its tab was open made ChamOS quit shortly afterwards. It no longer does.
  • Fix placeholder permissions, incorrect publisher labels and repeated prompts or timeouts after cancelling App installation. Hide uninstall and disable actions for bundled Apps and clarify that uninstalling removes local settings and data but preserves group files.

Task page

  • Fix hidden task pages stealing focus and sending chat input to a local agent. Task pages take focus only while visible.
  • a side chat that was idle kept showing a sent message as queued, and a turn that finished just as the side chat opened did not appear. Both are fixed.
  • Fix stale background-command states after completion, stopping or restart. Show Background running when commands remain after a turn is cancelled.
  • Keep Output open while background commands or child tasks run, with explicit button or Esc dismissal and stable behavior across task switches. Share stays open until dismissed outside, with Esc or with its close button.
  • switching from a Code-mode session back to a Work-mode session sometimes stopped just above the bottom and then stopped following new messages, and switching sessions while the previous one was still scrolling could land the new one in the wrong place. Both now land where they should.
  • a half-written message on the new-task page was lost if you went to look at another session and came back. The draft now stays, and each project's home page keeps its own.
  • collapsed projects in the sidebar all expanded again on every restart, and switching sections, clicking a session under Pinned, or restoring the last task at startup could also expand them. They now stay collapsed, and the collapsed state of the Pinned, Projects and Tasks sections is kept across restarts too.
  • the Pin and Archive buttons at the end of a sidebar row did nothing if the pointer moved slightly while pressing. They now register the click.
  • View Changes and View Files in the command palette (⌘⇧1 / ⌘⇧2) did nothing; they now open the Review and Files tabs in the file panel. Show / Hide Right Sidebar in the command palette, ⌘. and zen mode now all act on the file panel. Tabs open in the file panel are also restored after a reload or reopening the task.
  • centre and right alignment in conversation tables was ignored and every column was left-aligned, and clicking a footnote in a file preview did not jump to it. Both work now.
  • the system's own tooltip and ChamOS's hover card could appear together and overlap (on sub-agent cards, the collapsed sidebar toggle, the resource monitor and elsewhere). One hover now shows one popup. The tool-call count and duration on sub-agent cards, which always read 0, are gone.
  • when viewing a session running on another of your computers, the model button next to the composer showed only a placeholder "Model". It now shows the actual model.
  • after a task was archived, its agent could stay listed under this computer in Contacts. It is now removed with the task.

Agents

  • after changing the permission level in a Hermes or Pi session, the menu kept showing the old level, even though the new one was in effect. It now shows the right one.
  • Claude Code signed in with a relay token (ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN or CLAUDE_CODE_OAUTH_TOKEN) was treated as signed out, so only ChamOS's models could be picked and you were asked to sign in. Your own models now work.
  • a Claude Code turn that failed because authentication failed or the organisation was not allowed is now treated as an expired sign-in, with a way to sign in again.
  • in a Codex turn, a read tool called with a wrong argument, or an App's tool returning an error, marked a turn that had already been answered as failed. A turn now fails only when the reply was not sent. Work-mode Codex sessions also wait for ChamOS's tools to be ready before starting the first turn.
  • in Codex sessions, GLM's thinking did not appear at all, GPT-5.6 Terra's thinking was not shown either, and reopening a Codex session lost all of its earlier thinking. It is all there now, and very long thinking shows more smoothly as it is written.
  • in groups with more than about a hundred members, or with many friends, agents could not read the member list, send a message naming someone, or list friends at all. These now work. Agents also move a discussion that needs some back and forth into a topic in large groups.
  • when ChamOS's window was busy, agents calling ChamOS's own tools could hang for 30 seconds. They are no longer affected.

Other

  • Fix signing out on one device also signing out other devices.
  • when renewing your sign-in hit the server's rate limit, ChamOS kept retrying in the background, more and more often. It now backs off and keeps you signed in.
  • in the English interface, phrases such as "1 sessions", "1 tool calls" and "1 steps" now use the singular.

Upgrade notes

Chat

  • the "Replies without being named: …" line at the top of the member list is gone; each agent's row shows Active / Passive instead.

Apps

  • for App authors — the old way task-page Apps read and wrote files has been removed in favour of the same file API group files use, so Apps that call the old ones need an update.

SSH devices and session history

Add remote machines over SSH, session history and archive recovery, and improve group member management and task states.

New features

Chat

  • Add live hover cards to the running-agent bar with task, reply and action summaries for the current conversation. Exclude other conversations, thinking and tool arguments or output, and remove duplicate cards.

Task page

  • Add Session history for active, archived and unimported Claude Code and Codex sessions, grouped by project. Filter by source or status, sort by date or title, search session IDs, and import, restore or open sessions.
  • Offer undo after archiving, including associated child sessions, and continue restored conversations from Session history.
  • Pinch-zoom images, PDFs, webpage previews and browser tabs without scaling the interface. Double-click toggles image fit and zoom; PDFs support up to 400%.

Remote machines

  • Add a machine in Settings → Devices using user@host, an SSH command or a host alias. ChamOS installs its server and signs in on Linux or macOS, x64 or arm64, without root. Setup shows progress, handles SSH authentication in the app and supports passwordless access.
  • List remote and local projects together with host labels and choose remote folders for projects and tasks. Sessions, files, reviews, terminals, browsers and ports use the target machine; SSH forwards local webpages, and attachment transfers show progress and support retry.
  • Select machines in the library, schedules, repositories, default tmux settings and session history. New remote sessions can install missing agents automatically.

Agents

  • when you ask an agent about its standing in ChamOS, it can tell you who its owner is, which groups it is in, and its role and Active / Passive setting in each, including groups you have left but it is still in.
  • when you ask an agent to join other groups you are in, it can list your groups, join one itself, or add other agents you own; group approval settings still apply.
  • Add Google Antigravity (Beta) in Work and Code modes using a Google account and personal subscription, without ChamOS models. Support rule files, skills, forks, mid-turn input and failure states; first launch takes about twenty seconds.

Extensions

  • Extensions can supply tools and skills to new sessions while existing sessions retain their startup configuration. Show commands before installation and explain startup failures.
  • Extensions can send system notifications, link to specific views and send source-labeled interaction messages to agents. Notifications follow ChamOS settings and reopen the originating extension.

Improvements

Chat

  • opening a chat with unread messages from the chat list now lands on the latest message, just like a chat you have already read, instead of flashing blank, dropping to the bottom and then jumping back to the first unread. When the first unread message is above the screen, a "↑ N new messages" label appears at the top right of the message area; click it to jump to that message and highlight it.
  • Consolidate invitations, search, messages, whispers, roles, listening states and removals in the group member pane. Search by name, owner, engine, model or device.
  • Organize group settings into profile, chat and management pages; management is limited to owners and admins. Settings apply immediately, rules and descriptions have separate editors, and leaving or dissolving a group requires confirmation.
  • join requests moved to Contacts → New requests → Groups, next to friend requests, with a badge on the entry. With Agents need approval to join on, agents added by regular members also wait there for the owner or an admin to accept.
  • Contacts now opens with only People and Groups expanded, and the agents under each device are collapsed. Everything expands while you search, so nothing is missed.

Task page

  • session titles follow the name the agent gives the session. Once Claude Code (Work mode), OpenCode or MiMo Code has titled a session, the sidebar switches from the first message to that title, and a name set with /rename in Codex Code mode is picked up too. A name you set yourself always wins and is never overwritten.
  • Release processes for resumable sessions hidden and idle for over ten minutes, retaining identity and history and restoring them on opening or new input. Visible tasks, active terminals and non-resumable sessions are excluded.
  • you can pick the model and reasoning effort for a side chat while it is still starting, and the choice applies to that side chat. Before, you had to wait about 6 to 9 seconds for it to start fully.
  • when the tabs on the right of the task page no longer fit, they shrink first, then show only icons (hover for the full name); after that the strip scrolls sideways and an All tabs menu appears at the end.
  • in Work mode, a change waiting for your approval no longer shows line counts and content that have not been applied yet. The approval buttons are now Allow once, Always allow, Deny once and Always deny, in the interface language. After you send, queue or stop, the conversation stays where you can see it; the pinned summary of your question no longer covers the text; and files with the same name in the @ list show the end of their path so you can tell them apart.

Agents

  • Use consistent approval, answer, plan-review and attention states across devices. Show Background running when child tasks or commands continue after a turn ends.
  • when an agent needs your approval, your other devices and other people in the group now also see Needs your approval, not just Running.
  • Qwen, Copilot, Pi, Codex, OpenCode and MiMo Code can now report that they are waiting for your answer or approval, that a turn was interrupted, or that it failed. Before, most of them could only report start and finish.
  • Work-mode Claude Code now pairs with an adapter that matches the Claude Code version on your computer. When a newer one is needed it downloads in the background and the start progress shows "Downloading the ACP adapter (first time only)"; if the download fails, the one bundled with the app is used and the session starts as usual.
  • the note you have an agent write when it contacts a friend now appears in the group as the agent's first message the moment the friend accepts, so it does not need to be sent again.
  • Group read-only MCP settings by agent, with configuration paths, names, commands or addresses and transport details. Mark disabled or unreadable configurations and mask secrets and credentials.

Extensions

  • the /mcp panel in a session lists the extension tools and skills that session has. The panel's switches used to line up with the wrong rows when there were many, and a long panel was pushed off the screen; both are fixed.

Models and billing

  • with ChamOS's models, reasoning effort now lists the levels each model really supports instead of always Low, Medium and High. For example, GLM 5.3 offers Low, High and Max, GPT-5.6 Sol goes up to Extra high and Max, and Claude models go up to Max. The level you pick is the level requested. If a level saved earlier is not supported by the model, the default is used and the session opens as usual.

Other

  • Fix message-list and task-turn memory leaks, load charts on demand and release audio resources after notifications. Measured post-login Mac memory falls from about 465 MB to 366 MB.
  • the badge on the menu bar and Dock icons counts only unread chat messages (muted chats excluded) and no longer adds task-page sessions that finished while you were away, so it matches the chat list.
  • the pages in Settings share one consistent layout. The About page's card was invisible in the light theme and the "No setup needed" tag on the Models page showed in black; both are fixed.

Bug fixes

Chat

  • when you opened a chat, the message area stayed blank for 0.2 to 0.6 seconds before anything appeared. The latest messages now show as soon as the chat opens.
  • in the English interface, group and direct-message settings showed a horizontal scrollbar, and it flashed briefly when opening a second-level page. It no longer does.
  • when someone reacted to your message with an emoji, the reaction sat at the far left of the message column instead of under your bubble. It now sits against the bubble.
  • sharing your own agent with friends from Contacts or the agent's settings always failed with an error. It now sends each friend an invitation, and once they accept they join the small group with you and the agent. Friends who are already in that group are told so (when you share with just one of them, the group opens), friends who declined before are not invited again, and a failure for one friend does not affect the others.

Topics

  • after you @ed an agent in the topic pane and it read your message, the read status did not update until you refreshed or left and came back. It now updates at once. When someone joins a group partway through, the read count includes them too.
  • a new message in the topic pane wiped out the older messages you had scrolled up to load. New messages are now appended and what you loaded stays; reactions and deletions in the topic also update live.
  • opening an attachment from the topic pane closed the topic pane. Attachments handed to another app no longer close it, and closing an attachment previewed on the right takes you back to the topic.

Task page

  • in Code mode, the first time you opened a session after refreshing or restarting, the terminal drew at the wrong size for a moment before jumping, and Claude Code's input box border could split in two and stay that way. It is now drawn correctly from the start.
  • in Code mode, typing with an input method at the right edge of the input box (while the pinyin was still being composed) pushed the whole terminal to the left, with the pinyin sticking out of the box. The screen now stays put and the pinyin moves to the next line.
  • while you were scrolled up in a task-page conversation, thinking expanding or content loading late above you pushed the line you were reading away. It now stays still.
  • after a Work-mode session was stopped (for example undoing an archive, switching to Code mode and back, or being stopped by another session), sending a message showed "Failed to send message" and stayed on Running until you reloaded the page. The next message now starts the session again, with its earlier context.
  • when an agent started a Work-mode child session and you opened it as soon as it appeared in the sidebar, it stayed on "The engine could not start" even though it was running fine. You now see it reply live.
  • in Work-mode conversations, bold next to Chinese punctuation showed its asterisks, and unfinished bold markers flashed up while streaming; command tool details showed raw data; file-read, search and command counts were wrong; and long commands, paths and diffs could not be read in full. All fixed.
  • permissions and reasoning effort changed partway through a Work-mode session quietly reverted to the level the session was created with when it was reopened, which could leave permissions looser than you last chose. Your last choice is now kept.
  • a message from another session showed a string starting with session: when its sender could not be found. It now shows that agent's name.
  • in the English interface, the "Don't ask again" checkbox in the archive and "send mid-turn" confirmations was pushed out of the dialog, leaving only part of the text visible, so one click could tick it without you seeing it. It now has a line of its own. If archiving or sending mid-turn stopped asking, you can switch it back to "ask" under Settings → Interface.
  • when starting a new task, the reason the "Models provided by ChamOS" group was unavailable could show as a raw network error code, and in Chinese even in the English interface. It is now one sentence in your language, with Retry for network problems.
  • the divider for the right panel on the new-task page and the project home page was only a short handle in the middle. It is now a full-height divider like on the session page, and shares its width with it.
  • images outside the workspace (for example one an agent shows you by its full path) opened as "unsupported file format". They now show as images, and the reason is shown if one cannot be read.
  • Fix platform models being unavailable for scheduled tasks. Save model and thinking changes immediately, avoid spurious skipped-run records, default to unattended permissions and remove attachments that cannot be persisted.
  • when you created a Codex Code-mode agent from the chat page and sent the first message right away, the message did arrive and the agent replied, but the chat showed a turn-failure line saying the message was not processed, and the header said Not responding. This no longer happens.
  • new Codex Code-mode sessions actually ran the default model and reasoning effort from your ~/.codex/config.toml instead of the ones you chose, so sessions set to a ChamOS model failed. They now run what you chose.
  • Codex sessions using a ChamOS model started with a 401 error. They no longer do.
  • Apply Codex directory trust only to the current run. Remove old ChamOS trust entries from ~/.codex/config.toml while preserving other user settings.

Agents

  • in Code mode, pressing Enter in the Qwen or Copilot terminal without starting a new turn (an empty Enter or a slash command such as /about) left the session on Running, and so did cancelling a Qwen turn with Esc. They now return to Idle.
  • when a Copilot sub-agent finished first, the main session was marked Idle while it was still working. It now waits for the main session to really finish.
  • after a Code-mode agent was interrupted or crashed partway through a turn, a page refresh still showed Running. It now returns to Idle.
  • in a Work-mode Claude Code session that had used background sub-agents, sending a message while it was working meant the turn never ended and stayed on Running. It no longer does.
  • when an agent's sign-in had expired (the sign-in details were still on this computer but were rejected when used), the Library still showed it as signed in. It now shows "Sign-in expired" with a way to sign in again, and a turn that failed for that reason says so and offers to sign in again right in the conversation.
  • the same agent sometimes had a different name in the task page sidebar's identity card than in Contacts and chat (for example Codex 1 in one place and Codex 17 in another). It now has the same name everywhere.
  • agents sometimes did not know their current name: told they were Claude 16 when the session started, while their name was already Claude 39, they thought an @ for Claude 39 was not for them. Agents now look it up when needed and can tell you their current name.
  • Fix agents accessing workspaces of groups they have not joined by group ID. Access is limited to joined groups, documents record the agent as creator and owners retain deletion control.
  • when an agent messaged another session that had not started yet (for example after ChamOS restarted and before you opened it) or had been stopped, the message simply failed. ChamOS now wakes that same session first and then delivers the message.

Extensions

  • in Codex sessions, environment variables (such as tokens) set for local MCP tools you added yourself never took effect. They are now passed through.
  • an extension tab lost its theme and showed unstyled after it reloaded (on upgrade, a permission change, or disable and re-enable), and typing in an extension tab went into the terminal. Both are fixed.

Models and billing

  • Fix long-running or restored sessions failing to renew quota and remaining unresponsive. Report login, quota, model or connection errors and back off retries to at most once every five minutes.
  • the context usage card that pops up next to the composer showed a dollar cost at official API prices even with ChamOS's models or your own subscription, which looked like an extra charge. It now appears only when you use your own API key.
  • Claude Code's context limit used to be guessed from the model name: Opus 5.5 is really 1M but showed 200k until a turn finished. No limit is shown now until the real one is known, and once known it is remembered, so it is right from the start next time.

Upgrade notes

Chat

  • the passive threshold in group settings is now set for the group only; topic thresholds are no longer listed there one by one.

Remote machines

  • Preserve Code-mode sessions across server updates, restarts and crashes, and update incompatible server versions automatically. Accounts support up to ten machines; cloud tunnels without SSH are not yet available.

Models and billing

  • New accounts claim signup, referral and free-plan credits after desktop login, limited to five accounts per computer. Additional accounts can still pay to use ChamOS. Phone- or web-only accounts receive credits on first desktop login; existing accounts are unaffected.

Agent installation and chat reliability

Rework agent installation, add in-task model switching and usage pages, and fix message sending, attachments and agent states.

New features

Chat

  • Add group-join notices with a clickable member mention. Notices do not wake agents.
  • Approve Work-mode actions directly in chat, synchronized with task pages and phones; the first submitted answer takes effect.

Task page

  • Choose a model and thinking level from the Code-mode session header. Confirmation interrupts the current turn and continues the session with the new settings; model changes, MCP updates and restarts clearly state the interruption.

Agents

  • Add a shared account-status and sign-in entry for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and MiMo Code, including reauthentication.

Models and billing

  • Add Usage and Activity pages for membership, credits, per-model statistics and request logs, plus session counts, tokens, runtime and a yearly heatmap. View totals or filter by device.

Improvements

Chat

  • Show messages and sending status immediately, retaining failed messages as retryable bubbles without overwriting drafts.
  • Update chat incrementally and use cached messages to reduce flicker and reloads. Returning from creation panels retains scroll position and the topic pane.
  • Keep message tools beside bubbles and mention and command menus beside the cursor; enlarge dismiss controls for attachments, whispers and reply references.
  • Submit agents for group approval and admit them after owner or admin consent. Applicants can view request status, and new-group member selection lists only their own agents.
  • when a turn fails in a chat with an agent, hovering over the failure bar shows the full original error.

Task page

  • Disable agent self-updates inside sessions to avoid changing running versions or user-installed programs.
  • Fork sessions into independent tasks and tab groups, keeping the project directory and opening the new task immediately.
  • Add Don’t ask again to mid-turn direct-send confirmation, with an option in Settings → Interface to restore the prompt.
  • in a conversation, the cards for messages that people or other agents sent to this agent show the sender's real avatar, as on the chat page.

Agents

  • Show agents in a grid grouped by installation status, with installation progress, update badges and startup warnings.
  • Installation settings distinguish existing local copies, Gugu-managed copies and custom paths, with version and location details. Uninstalling removes only the managed copy and switches back to an existing local copy.
  • Install agents in ChamOS’s dedicated directory. Copilot, OpenCode, MiMo Code, Pi and Qwen Code no longer require Node.js; install and switch while retaining user-installed copies.
  • Choose an available official or domestic download source automatically and retry another source on failure, with a fixed-source option in advanced settings.
  • Keep installation errors and retries visible, show update badges and rescan on page refresh, including updates for user-installed copies.
  • Use consistent Idle, Running, Needs approval and Error states. Approvals and errors appear under Needs you, and agents can receive messages during startup.
  • Highlight completed, unread sessions with bold titles and timestamps. Notify only when a turn completes; manual stops do not count as completion, and auto-approved actions do not generate approval notifications.
  • after you rename a running agent, it knows its new name from the next turn without restarting the session (Work mode).
  • which agents a message wakes is now decided the moment it is sent. After an agent switches from "Passive" to "Active", messages from before the switch that did not wake it are no longer delivered to it afterwards, and after an agent is deleted, old messages that @ed only it are no longer passed on to other agents in the group.

Models and billing

  • Consolidate membership, quota and credit panels into Usage, with the credit bar, avatar menu and top-up prompts opening the same page.
  • with a ChamOS model, reasoning effort lists only the three levels actually supported: low, medium and high. Before, Codex, Claude Code and Pi listed higher levels that had no effect when chosen; a saved higher level now falls back to the engine's default.
  • when saving a model in Agent settings requires restarting the session, the message now says truthfully whether the original session was resumed or the agent started a new one of its own (the conversation in ChamOS is all still there, but the agent will not carry the earlier context).

Other

  • the traffic-light buttons at the top left of the window no longer sit on the sidebar's border.

Bug fixes

Chat

  • when a message was stuck in one chat, newly sent messages in other chats also stayed on "Sending" for up to almost a minute. Chats no longer affect each other.
  • after scrolling the message list up a little, your own message disappeared from the screen once it was confirmed, and in group chats with a long history, sending a message made the whole list flash blank and re-lay itself out. Neither happens now, and sending takes the list back to the latest message.
  • after a network hiccup, the computer sleeping or the window sitting in the background, new messages sometimes only showed up together with the next one. ChamOS now retries automatically and checks for new messages regularly, and checks right away when the window comes back to the front, the network returns or the computer wakes.
  • typing quickly occasionally dropped characters, and sometimes a whole message was not sent after you pressed Send, with no notice. This no longer happens.
  • PNG images sent by agents sometimes showed as file cards. They now always show as images, older ones included, and a failed load is retried once automatically.
  • Fix duplicate attachment sends, missing text or reply references and failed sends overwriting newer drafts. Upload attachments concurrently in order, with immediate placeholders and image previews.
  • a message's "More" menu, the emoji panel, member cards and the read list drifted away from their buttons after the list scrolled, and could not be clicked where they covered the top bar of the window. They now stay with their buttons and flip to the other side near an edge.
  • Fix mentions for names containing spaces or symbols. Search ignores spaces and punctuation and supports pinyin, initials, ChamOS IDs and contact notes.
  • Fix invitation links bypassing group join rules. Approval groups require a request and invite-only groups reject link-based joins; owner and admin invitations remain available.
  • the contact list's letter index put Chinese names in the wrong groups (for example 周 under B). Names are now grouped by the first letter of their pinyin and sorted by pronunciation within each group.
  • a Qwen agent created from the chat page (Work mode) never replied to direct messages. It now replies.

Topics

  • clicking an already open topic again (or the same topic's entry under its source message) emptied the topic pane on the right. It now shows its messages however many times you click.
  • file attachments in the topic pane did nothing when clicked. They now open a preview, as in the main chat.
  • the member card opened from an avatar in the topic pane showed and changed that member's Active / Passive setting in the source group. It now reads and writes the topic's own setting, and members who are not in the topic do not show the option.
  • topic members who had left the source group could not be @ed in the topic. All topic members are now in the list.

Task page

  • after restarting a Code-mode session or switching its model, the terminal filled only the left part of the pane and wrapped text as if the screen were narrow. It now fills the pane.
  • in Code mode, pressing Enter in an OpenCode, MiMo Code or Codex terminal without starting a new turn (an empty Enter, a slash command such as /status, Enter in a dialog) left the session showing "Running", even after a refresh. That no longer happens. Interrupting an OpenCode turn with Esc also no longer marks the session with a red "Error" dot; it goes back to idle.
  • while the identity card was showing for a hovered sidebar session, every key typed into the terminal was ignored; for example, pressing Esc twice right after forking a Codex session did not open the rewind panel. The terminal now only stops taking keys when a real dialog is open. Clicking a session row also no longer pops up the identity card after the click.
  • pressing Esc twice in a Codex terminal to rewind to the previous message did nothing, and the terminal stayed on "Working". The rewind panel now opens.
  • reopening a Codex session switched it to the default model in your ~/.codex/config.toml, so sessions on a ChamOS model failed their requests. Sessions now keep their own model and reasoning effort.
  • a forked Codex agent kept the original agent's identity and carried on with the original session's work. It now has its own new identity and waits for your instructions.
  • the first time Codex opened a folder it asked whether to trust it, and if you took more than 60 seconds to answer, the first message was marked as failed. It now waits for your decision.
  • when a Codex session was reopened after restarting ChamOS or after sitting idle for a while, turns that finished while it was closed were missing content: usually your own message was gone, and in worse cases the reply too. Everything is there now.
  • in the "Import sessions" list, Codex sub-agent records showed up as entries with the same name as the main session and could not be resumed after importing. They are no longer listed.
  • stopping Codex in Work mode ended the turn, but commands that turn had started (such as a long-running script) kept running in the background. They are now stopped too; commands that earlier turns deliberately left running are not affected.
  • when a MiMo Code session ended or ChamOS quit, the commands it was running were left behind. They are now stopped too.
  • an engine that was a little slow to start was treated as failed, for example when the computer was busy or MiMo Code was starting for the first time. ChamOS now waits as long as the engine is still starting, and the session shows which step is running and since when, with a "Cancel" button.
  • when an engine failed to start, the chat page and the session list kept showing "Running". They now show an error, and the failure reason includes the engine's own exit code and the last lines of its error output instead of only something vague such as "connection closed".
  • Fix Qwen Work mode failing after Code mode was used. Remove old ChamOS entries from ~/.qwen/settings.json while preserving user settings.
  • Fix Qwen Code-mode permissions not matching the selected level. Plan mode produces plans only, and Read-only requests approval before file edits or commands.
  • with "Full access" chosen in Work mode, Copilot still stopped to wait for your approval. Those approvals are now granted automatically; questions the agent asks you and plans it asks you to confirm still come to you.
  • long text in tables in a conversation was cut off with an ellipsis and could only be read by hovering. It now wraps and shows in full; tables that are too wide still scroll sideways.
  • while you dragged the reasoning-effort slider, the level name and description stayed on the old level until you let go. They now follow the slider as you drag.
  • the empty area on the right of the New task page also showed the resize cursor. Only the drag handle in the middle does now.

Agents

  • after an agent ChamOS installed updated itself (for example through Claude Code's auto-update), it was no longer recognized as ChamOS's copy, and the update and uninstall buttons disappeared. It is still recognized now.
  • Claude Code sessions idle for about a minute, and OpenCode sessions at the end of every turn, were marked as "waiting for you". They now show as idle.
  • a failed turn (for example a 403 from the API, or a sign-in or configuration problem) used to show only a dot like an ordinary reminder, and after a while could even count as idle. It now stays on a red "Error". When an agent has an error, the chat page also shows it as a red "Not responding", as the task page does, instead of a green "Online".
  • after you clicked Stop in Work mode, the status only went back to idle when the next turn ended, and Copilot sometimes stayed on "Running" after being stopped, with every later message queued. The status now goes back to idle right after Stop, and you can keep talking.
  • after restarting ChamOS, sessions left on "Running" or "Needs approval" are set back to idle.
  • Fix new agents reusing deleted identifiers. Numbers increase across devices and are not reused after deletion or renaming.
  • Include collaboration rules when delivering group messages to agents and resend them after changes. Topics without their own rules inherit the source group’s rules, which also apply to file sends.
  • with "Hide chat history" on in a group, agents browsing or searching the group's history could still see messages from before they joined. The setting now applies to agents too.

Models and billing

  • with a ChamOS model, OpenCode and Copilot did not actually send the reasoning effort you chose, and Copilot's Work mode could not even start. The level you choose is now the level requested.
  • if the model rejected the reasoning effort chosen at the start of a session, the first message stayed stuck without a word of explanation. The session now shows a line saying the chosen effort is not accepted by this model and which one is used instead, and the message goes out. Notices such as "model switched" or "model unavailable" are also no longer folded into the "took N seconds" line.
  • with a ChamOS model, Codex said on every turn that it could not find the model's details and was using defaults. That notice is gone.
  • Fix Pi and Copilot retaining the old model or failing during model changes. Qwen restarts after confirmation, and stopping an agent also stops its task session.
  • while Copilot, Pi or Qwen was using a ChamOS model, Agent settings → AI model claimed they could not use ChamOS models and did not let you choose one. You can now see and choose them. Switching back to "Your own model (default)" now really switches Copilot and Pi back, instead of requesting the ChamOS model with your account.
  • Pi's "Your own model" list in Work mode included models that cannot run in that mode; it now lists only ones that can. In Pi's Code mode, the "Your own model" choice had no effect: Pi kept using its own default model, and models you had added to Pi were missing from the list. Pi now runs the model you choose.

Other

  • if something went wrong during startup, ChamOS could leave an invisible background process behind, after which double-clicking the icon did nothing. The process now exits on such an error, so opening ChamOS again starts it afresh.

Upgrade notes

Task page

  • Codex Code mode requires version 0.153.0 or later. Older versions show their version and path; update the managed copy for an automatic retry or update a personal copy and retry manually. ChamOS does not modify personal installations.
  • Qwen has no level that matches "Edit", so new Qwen sessions offer only "Plan", "Read only" and "Full access", and a remembered "Edit" is treated as "Read only".
  • Retire the old SSH remote-project feature. Projects are no longer listed or runnable, but local records are retained.

Agents

  • Library → Agents now lists the same agents as the agent menu when creating a task: Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, MiMo Code, OpenCode, Pi and Qwen Code. Before, other agents you had installed yourself (such as Gemini CLI or Kimi) also showed up in the Library but could not be chosen for a task. They are no longer listed.
  • Claude Code needs version 2.1.78 or later for a failed turn to show as an error; with older versions a failed turn shows as idle.

Models and billing

  • Activity data is collected on each computer and uploaded, so other devices may see numbers up to half an hour old. Tokens are currently counted only for Claude Code and Codex.
  • if you had chosen a non-default model of your own in Pi's Code mode, from this version on the model that actually runs, and what it costs, is the one you chose.

Group invitations, unread sync and session recovery

Agents can send group invitations; improve unread and mention handling and fix session recovery, file previews and storage statistics.

New features

Chat

  • Label group-chat avatars with the agent type and messages with the owner, with distinct loading, removed and unknown-type icons.
  • Agents can invite people or other agents to groups. People accept for themselves; an agent’s owner approves and joins too if needed. Pending invitations appear in New requests → Group invitations, and no group messages are delivered before acceptance.

Topics

  • the topic member panel has "Add topic members". Pick people from the source conversation, confirm, and an invitation message in the topic pulls them in.

Improvements

Chat

  • the running-status bar at the top of a group chat shows your own agents first. The ones that don't fit go into "+N".
  • you can rename your own agent straight from its profile card in a group's member list and from its contact card, not only by double-clicking in the share panel. A name changed from the contact card now also updates on the task page.

Topics

  • when you type @ in a topic, the topic's participants are listed first and the rest of the source conversation after them. "@all" only notifies the topic's participants and does not pull in people from the source conversation who have not joined.
  • a topic's agent limit (past it, every agent turns "Passive") is now set in the source group's settings, in a new "Topic thresholds" section. A topic can still have its own value. Before, a background refresh could wipe out a number you were halfway through typing. It no longer does.
  • the topic link under the source message shows how many people actually take part, and updates when someone joins or leaves.

Task page

  • with a ChamOS model, Claude Code sometimes took an extra 20–30 seconds before its first answer. The first turn in Work mode now answers in about 8 seconds, and the first side-chat message in about 5.
  • the access key for ChamOS models no longer shows up in the system's process list and is no longer written to a file on disk.
  • Session hover cards show copyable session names, session IDs, agent names and agent IDs. The context menu gains an agent-renaming action.

Models and billing

  • the model list follows the models ChamOS actually serves right now. New models appear on their own, and models that are temporarily not served are no longer listed. Before, they stayed in the list and failed when chosen.

Agents

  • Show agent settings in a centered dialog with scrollable content and accessible bottom actions.

Other

  • the whole app was brought in line with one design standard: corner radii, colors, shadows and divider lines now follow one set, and blue is used only for running, connected and selected.

Bug fixes

Chat

  • Fix unread counts being only partially cleared and sidebar badges remaining after opening a conversation.
  • when you @mentioned one agent in a group or topic, other agents set to "Active" also received the message and joined in. Now only the agent you named is woken.
  • a whisper that replied to an agent's message was delivered to that agent. A whisper now goes only to its recipients.
  • adding several agents to a group at once from the member picker did not turn everyone "Passive", even when the total went over the set number. Adding them at the same time now triggers it too.
  • system messages in a group were not delivered to agents according to the Active / Passive rules, and when agents were automatically turned "Passive" for crossing the line, the ones that had been "Active" never got that notice. Both are now delivered by the rules.
  • clicking the send button with the mouse sometimes did not send the message, while Enter did. One click now sends.
  • Fix topic panes, scroll positions and drafts being lost when switching between Messages and Tasks. Messages received while away remain unread.

Task page

  • Fix direct messages and group mentions failing after a session stops or ChamOS restarts. Claude Code, OpenCode, Qwen and Copilot restore the original session before handling messages.
  • quitting ChamOS treated the task page's agents as deleted: their direct messages were archived and they came back with a new identity on the next launch. Agents and their direct messages now stay as they were.
  • Qwen and Copilot Code-mode sessions on a ChamOS model answered the first message, but every direct message after that failed. After the session restarted, Copilot stopped at a session picker and Qwen resumed a different session. Both now resume their own session.
  • in Claude Code's side chat, the first message sometimes went out on your local account, was refused, and the chat showed as running without ever replying. The first message now uses the ChamOS model.
  • if your own ~/.curlrc had options such as -i, Claude Code on a ChamOS model never replied and showed no error. Your curl settings no longer affect it.
  • with a ChamOS model, Codex's /status showed a smaller context window than the model really has (for example 258K for a 1M model). It now shows the real window.
  • after a failed turn, clicking "Reconnect" turned the failure reason back into a generic message. The real reason and the model service's original text now stay after reconnecting.
  • Fix installed agents not being selected for new projects or tasks. Prefer the current choice, last-used agent, configured default, Codex, then another available agent.
  • Fix in-page links blanking webpage and HTML attachment previews. Restore media, embedded pages, fonts and styles, and prevent external links from replacing the attachment preview.
  • the tab strip on the right of the New task page and the project home page still had the old style. It now matches the tabs everywhere else.
  • the conversation minimap left out the turn in progress and inputs added later in the same turn. Both now get marks.
  • Fix duplicate directory scans, growing memory use and inflated reclaimable-space totals. Scans finish in roughly ten seconds and stop when leaving the page.
  • with a very large working folder (tens of thousands of files), ChamOS stopped responding for more than two minutes after launch. Indexing now takes a few seconds and the app stays usable meanwhile.
  • with "Enable tmux" on, quitting ChamOS also ended the tmux sessions of your tasks. They now stay and are picked up again on the next launch.

Models and billing

  • a running session could lose models it was able to switch to partway through, with a "no access to this model" error. Models you could switch to when the session started now stay available for the whole session.
  • with a ChamOS model, you occasionally got an "account not usable" error. At busy times requests from many users were rate-limited together; each client is now counted on its own.

Agents

  • in agent settings → Install → source, once you had pointed ChamOS at an agent yourself, clicking "Point at it myself…" again did nothing, and the path you had entered could not be seen or changed. It now opens the input with your last value, and that row in the menu is marked "Using".
  • after an agent stopped a session with its tools, the session still read as "working" or "idle", so you could not tell it had stopped. It now shows as stopped.

Other

  • after opening the task page once, a batch of elements across the app that should be round or oval turned into pill shapes.

Upgrade notes

  • Code-mode Claude Code sessions need Claude Code 2.1.69 or later. With an older version ChamOS tells you before starting the session.

Independent topics and agent session fixes

Add independent topics and participant notifications, and fix message delivery, session recovery and model switching.

New features

Topics

  • Create independent topics from group or direct-chat messages, with editable names based on the source message. Whispers and withdrawn messages cannot start topics.
  • Open topics in a side pane while keeping the source conversation available. The source message shows the topic name, message count, creator and recent activity.
  • Topics have their own members and notify participants only. Source-conversation members can view them and become participants by posting or being mentioned.
  • Show the three most recent topics below each conversation, with older topics searchable in History → Topics and a filter for participated topics.
  • Add read receipts to topics, showing who has and has not read a message.
  • Switch agents to passive mode when a group or topic exceeds its threshold, five by default. Record the change with an undo action and allow threshold changes in group settings or topic membership.

Agents

  • Pi gains Work mode with live status, mid-turn input and immediate availability after installation. Personal models require an API key in the environment; Work mode does not read pi login credentials. ChamOS models are unaffected.

Improvements

Topics

  • agent response modes go from three to two, passive and active. The old "adaptive" mode behaved the same as active.
  • the members button at the top of a group chat now opens the member list, with people and agents in separate sections. It used to open group settings.

Task page

  • a plain folder can now be a project and run tasks. A new blank project only creates the directory and no longer runs git init, and an existing project keeps working if its .git is gone.

Models and billing

  • after a membership or credit change lands, an open session can continue without being reopened. It could previously be refused against the old balance until the next renewal.

Other

  • the network requests ChamOS makes in the background while idle dropped from 266 to 18 per two minutes. The trade-off is that a "Retry" pressed on another device can take up to 30 seconds to run on this one, where it used to take under 2.

Bug fixes

Chat

  • scrolling up in a long group chat stopped at the earliest loaded message. You can now page in both directions, and the message you are reading stays in place.
  • "Jump to latest" now fetches the real latest messages. Jumping to unread and the new-message count after reopening a chat are more accurate, and a new message arriving while you read history no longer moves your position.
  • agents with the same name were indistinguishable in the @ menu. Each agent now shows its owner, and picking one sends only to that one. Previously the other same-named agents were added as recipients too.
  • Fix direct messages and @mentions not reaching listening-only agents after more than 80 unaddressed messages accumulate.
  • when asked in a group to pass a message to another agent, an agent sometimes sent it to itself and reported it as delivered. Self-sends are now refused.

Task page

  • Fix missing context and blank views when switching Claude Code from Code mode to Work mode.
  • Fix restoring older sessions that use model aliases. Saved history remains visible, with an inline error and a retry action.
  • a failed turn always showed the same "the prompt could not be delivered" line whatever the cause. It now names the real cause, and you can expand it to read the original error text from the model service.
  • Fix tool details not opening in saved history. Arguments, output, exit codes, errors and attachments persist after restart, including in child tasks.
  • a Codex session in Work mode could crash the task page mid-turn.
  • "Rename" in the sidebar context menu flashed an input and lost it. Renaming now uses a dialog and saves only on confirm.
  • API keys and proxies exported in ~/.zshrc worked in your terminal but were missing inside task sessions, so Codex reported a missing environment variable. Terminal, Code mode and Work mode sessions now all see them.

Models and billing

  • in sessions started on a Gugu-provided model, the in-session model menu showed only one entry under "Your Codex models" and only Default for Claude Code. It now matches the new-task page.
  • switching a Codex session from a Gugu-provided model to your own subscription failed to reopen the session and reverted the model button. It now switches and keeps the conversation. The same switch in OpenCode is fixed as well.
  • Fix Claude Code switching from the selected Sonnet 5 to Opus 5 and making an extra billed request.
  • during a long Codex turn on a ChamOS model, putting the computer to sleep for a while ended the turn with a timeout or "401 Invalid token". The turn now finishes after wake.
  • if your own ~/.claude/settings.json contained a static API key, Gugu-model sessions used that key and got a 401. Gugu-model sessions are no longer affected by that key.
  • with OpenCode on a ChamOS model, the new-task page offered Low, Medium and High thinking levels but the session showed a fourth slot, and reset threw an error. Both places now match and reset returns to Default.

Agents

  • Pi asked for approval on every tool call and ignored the "auto-approve by default" setting. It now follows the setting.
  • MiMo Code could create a session but rejected the first message. It now replies normally on ChamOS models.
  • Fix selected permissions not being applied in OpenCode and MiMo Code Work-mode sessions. Codex permission changes apply on the next turn and show their queued state.
  • after a Codex session was rebuilt in the background or forked, its permissions fell back from Full Access to restricted with networking off. Resume and fork now keep the level you chose.
  • Fix one ChamOS instance stopping another instance’s Codex engine and the first reconnect attempt timing out.
  • starting Codex inside a task session brought up its own update menu, which swallowed your first input. It no longer appears. Update Codex from ChamOS's Agents page.
  • two cases where Codex sessions misjudged a turn. A turn could hang forever after you added input mid-turn, and one failed tool call marked the whole turn failed even when a later call succeeded.
  • the agent details panel in the Library reopened by itself on your next visit or after a restart.

Other

  • an update had finished downloading but nothing in the UI let you install it, and "Check for updates" only answered "new version found". Reopening the app also deleted the downloaded package. "Restart to update" in the banner and "Restart to install" on the About page now stay available, and the package is kept.
  • the login page, crash page and menu bar icon still used the old icon. They now use the new one.

Compatibility changes

Topics

  • the old in-group reply panel. Replies posted in it were moved back into the main chat as replies to the original message, so nothing is lost.
  • the summary shown at the top of group chats, together with its red "summary generation failed" bar.

Agents

  • the "Sign in to use Pi models" entry in Pi's model list. It only opened an empty terminal, so sign in to Pi from your own terminal instead. Sign-in for Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Kimi, MiMo Code, OpenCode, Qoder and Qwen is unchanged.

Upgrade notes

  • older ChamOS builds once wrote a notify entry into your ~/.codex/config.toml. This release removes that one entry at startup and leaves every other byte of the file, including a notify line of your own, untouched.

Six more agents can use Gugu-provided models

OpenCode, Qwen, Kimi and three more agents can use Gugu-provided models, and release notes move to a searchable, shareable web page.

ChamOS model picker showing providers, model names and thinking levels
The model picker now shows available models and thinking levels; screenshot from v0.2.46.

New features

  • release notes live at gugu.nextmind.space/help/release-notes/, with contents, search and a link per version; after an update ChamOS opens that version's entry.
  • each platform has its own release notes, so changes don't mix across platforms.
  • a help center covering setup, quickstart, troubleshooting, billing, FAQs and release notes.

Improvements

  • sidebar row actions appear only on hover or keyboard focus and show which agent they belong to.
  • agents send files by location instead of having the model rewrite the whole file.

Bug fixes

  • OpenCode, Qwen, Kimi, Copilot, MiMo Code and Qoder can now use Gugu-provided models.
  • release notes failing to load on phone and web; failures now give the real reason, not a generic network error.
  • beta builds that never offered an update.

Compatibility changes

  • three sidebar switches in Settings that did nothing.

A slider for thinking levels, and release notes that show up

Thinking levels move to a slider, every Gugu-provided model has been checked, and release notes are there after you update.

ChamOS's new-task model and thinking-strength picker
New tasks can choose a model and thinking strength directly; shown here is the v0.2.45 picker.

New features

  • a marked slider for thinking levels, so the current level and the range are visible at a glance.

Improvements

  • when an agent is waiting for your reply it shows "Waiting", no longer confused with thinking or idle.
  • Gugu-provided models now connect to each provider's official API directly; eight models that did not work were removed, and the remaining fifteen were each verified.

Bug fixes

  • an agent's first greeting after joining a group chat did not show.
  • release notes were missing after installing a new version, and a version without notes could be marked as read.
  • the minimap on the right of a conversation did not line up with the messages.

  • Drag sessions to create @mentions, drag folders to insert paths and restart Code-mode sessions.
  • Show No agent selected when none is installed; consolidate mobile permissions and support background notifications.

Bug fixes
